We have added two new electives to the Business Analysis certificate program starting in Fall 2014: Agile Methodologies and Introduction to Analytics and Big Data. We are excited to be offering this two courses that are current hot topics in industry. This brings the total number of electives to four, allowing students greater flexibility. Here is a quick look at these two new courses.

It’s now easier than ever to pursue a career as a Business Analyst (BA) thanks to the new online option to the business analysis certificate at Sheridan College. Once an in-class only program, Sheridan’s BA certificate is now available online.
Students across the province now have access to Sheridan’s Business Analysis Program through OntarioLearn.com. Business analysis is the practice of enabling change in an organizational context by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. The Sheridan program, which has been running since 2009, is now available to students via online delivery. “Making this program available through OntarioLearn.com broadens the number of students who can benefit from the program,” stated Dan Piedra, Associate Dean, Open Learning Centre at Sheridan. “Most of our students are busy working professionals. As our faculty reviewed the curriculum and materials for this year, we introduced the concept of a BA “engagement” to the program. An engagement is like a BA “gig”. For example, a senior BA might be assigned an Enterprise Analysis Engagement to create the business case for a new project. In industry, it is very common for that BA’s involvement with the project to end when the business case is approved.
